The swimmer

This year I participated in the 100 Day Project. The theme I picked was simple, just “characters in hats.” It was a chance to explore different media everyday in my sketchbook. I have wanted to do more with collage, in combination with gouache. How do I use them in a composition in a way that is fresh but not clunky, loose but still elegant?
